BSC vs MCC pool challenge

What started out as a good idea looks set to become a bi-annual event, following the success of the inaugural Bryanston Sports Club versus Morningside Country Club Pool Challenge.

Fifteen players from both clubs were entered into the competition, with the venue alternating between the two clubs. There were 15 singles games and five doubles, based on a best-of-three format. One point scored for a win in singles, two scored for a win in doubles.

Our BSC lads started well, taking a lead after the first few games. But the tables turned when MCC managed to pull off a string of wins to take a commanding lead.

The final evening saw our neighbours notch up an unassailable 19-6 victory, to lift the impressive floating trophy.

Despite the loss, the event was a resounding success. Presenting the trophy to MCC, our team captain, Ado Lloyd, and vice-captain, Kenny MacKinnon, expressed the views of all the players: a great tournament; good friends were made; the competition must definitely continue; and we look forward to more interaction between the clubs.

Well done to Ado, Kenny and others for helping to organise the event and also to the players for the positive spirit shown throughout!

Ado and Kenny put on a brave smile as they hand the 2020 BSC vs MCC Floating Trophy to MCC's Steven McCain.
